This Is The Music We Dance To Records was formed in March 2025 by Dan Wainwright and Danny Sutcliffe. The label takes its name from a record Dan put out in 2014, a personal statement that marked the beginning of his career.

That record’s name stuck around for 11 years, popping up on parties and releases over the decade and a bit, always lingering in the background.

By 2025, a lot of Dan’s friends in the Liverpool music scene were coming to him for remixes and advice on releasing their own music. Danny saw it for what it was—Dan was already in the perfect position to start a label. So, they threw a party at Commune in Liverpool, and soon after, the label was born.

​

The music on the label is rooted in acid house, Balearic beat, and dub, but the main tracks on its releases could be anything at all. The whole ethos is about celebrating music in all forms, embracing the idea of letting go of outcomes and living life as a journey rather than something to be controlled.

The pair hope to release brilliant new music every month from here on out and aim to have as much fun along the way with anybody who aligns on that journey.
